Whimsy Bike: Victoria Bike Map · Last updated October 13, 2026

The short version: Whimsy Bike doesn't know who you are or where you go. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your location stays on your device. We get a weekly "still riding" count, and, unless you turn them off, a few anonymous counts of what's used, so we can tell what to fix.

What stays on your device

What we receive

WhatWhenCan you turn it off?
Weekly visit count: how many weeks since Whimsy Bike was first used on your device (0 = new this week), the app's version, and whether it's the website or the iPhone app. Once a week, when you open Whimsy Bike. No: it's how we know whether anyone uses Whimsy Bike at all. It says nothing about you or your trips.
Usage counts: for example, that a route was planned and how many of its stops were in each municipality (never where), the bike type and route preference, that a route was ridden 500 m or finished, which map views were opened, which Nerd mode extras were used (riders 19 and over who turned Nerd mode on), how often a featured place was shown or tapped, that a search found nothing (not what was searched), and app errors. As you use Whimsy Bike. Yes: Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage counts.
Problem reports: what you wrote, the app's version and settings, your screen size and, for a problem on the map, the spot where you put the pin. Only when you send one. Just don't send one.

None of these carry your name, an account, a device identifier or your location. Our database (Supabase, on servers in Canada) records the country each one came from, worked out from your internet address, which itself isn't kept, and the hour it arrived. The app can only add these records, never read them back.
