Whimsy Bike: Comfortable Bike Routes for Greater Victoria, BC

A free bike map and route planner for Greater Victoria, BC, that finds the comfortable way.

What it does

Comfortable routes first. Whimsy Bike looks for the protected lane, the paved trail or the quiet street a block over, rather than a painted lane on a busy road. Its first suggestion is the quickest route that stays comfortable.
Thinks like a rider. Hills, turns across traffic, waits at lights, construction closures, unlit paths after dark, rain on gravel and wind on the waterfront all count. On hot days it can look for shade; after a grey week in winter, for sun.
Acoustic, e-bike or Bike Share. Routes and times for your kind of bike, including walking to a share bike and parking it near where you're going, with a price estimate.
Where to lock up. Bike racks at your destination, from the City of Victoria and OpenStreetMap.
Search everything. Addresses, businesses, parks, landmarks and intersections, all searched on your device.
Weather for the ride. Rain, wind and sunset along your route.
Turn-by-turn guidance in the iPhone app, spoken, and working without a connection.

Private by design

No account, no ads and no tracking. The map and the route planner run on your device, and your location never leaves it. A weekly anonymous "still in use" count, and optional anonymous counts you can turn off, are all we see. Privacy policy.
